About caring for the environment

I think in our society in generally, and in our city especially, people don’t have an eco-mind, because they are not very aware about the planet dangerous situation. One of the things that doesn’t help is the inexistence of spaces for recycling in the streets or in people’s usual places, for example. Another one, is that the information that people has of this environmentally practices is very poor, because thay can know it only when they’re interested, searching on internet or things like that. However, in the last time I think people is taking awareness and there are increasing the instances of recycling and caring for the environment.
In my home we used to recycle the things we can, like plastic bottles and bags, paper and glasses. Apart from that, I always try to use the old things for new uses, and when some thing breaks, I try to fix it the most possible before buying a new one. Those are some things that I used to do for reducing my carbon footprint, adittion to turn on the lights only when is really necesary, and don’t waste water needlesly.
Another things I think are very bad for the enviroment, are the cars. For that reason, I transported myself walking each time I can, but the problem is that I live a little far than almost everything, so many times I have to go by bus or car. Although I agree with the idea of caring about the planet, I’ve never been in a green organisation, I think because this is not one of my priorities and beeing in one of them demands a lot of time.

What's the meaning of MUSIC for me

Music is one of the most important things in a person’s life. I think it’s very different the life with or without music, for example when you are walking in the street, is not the same when you are listening to music. But it has to be listening YOUR music, the music that can create feelings in you, and not any music. For me, this kind of music is rock, because it’s something that I can listen in any moment, I always enjoy it, and there’s no other kind of music that can make me feel like that. I can spend a whole day doing nothing but listening to music, and it’s much better if this is live music, because I love going to concerts. I like many rock bands, but my favorite is the Argentinean band of ‘La Renga’, which is coming to Chile this weekend.
Of course I think music is essential in my life, like I said at the beginning, not only because is something that can join me in all situations, but because it’s something special in what I can feel identified all the time. Apart from that, I think music is important not only for me, because it’s something that can connect people in many situations, like when you are singing the same song with other people all together, or when a group of people go to a concert, or things like that.

“Tesco slump due to divine intervention, says Christian pressure group”

A recent act shows that a group of Christian people, converged in an organization named “Christian Voice”, said that recent bad economic situation and poor sales of an international store named Tesco, it’s a divine intervention.
For the Christians, the original problem was that this store helped and gave economic support to a gay organization named “Gay Pride”, for a celebration they did. After that, the ‘Christian Voice’ announced their disapprobation and they protested outside Tesco’s shops. That was the first episode of the story. But now, Tesco is passing for a hard economic situation and Christians are saying that this is God’s work, because they were praying for that, and God answered them. For that reason, Christians thought that their prayers were serious.
But no conform to this paraphernalia, a member of the Christian organization talked about the gay organization like a dubious one, and another one encouraged the no-shopping in this store, but Tesco’s didn’t answer them.
I was thinking about what would happen if someone protested outside a church of outside the Vatican, accusing them for giving economic support to Christian people… Maybe God can punish people again, so try to be careful.

the real meaning of happiness

Happiness is a sort of dirty concept. In these days, many people, organizations, and even governments, use the concept of “happiness” to base whatever they do; everything is “in the name of happiness”. I think people love to talk about happiness when they really don’t know what that means (or they don’t problematize about this), and they are happy just when their own person is happy, no mattering if around they there’s poverty, injustice, sadness, etc.
For me, happiness is in little things, like beings with your people, doing things you like to do, etc., but especially in knowing that other people is happy too.
I think individualism that governs our society don’t let people to be happy, because they’re always thinking that they can be MORE happy, and finally they spend all their lives looking for a happiness that doesn’t really exist, without enjoying simple situations of every day that can make them happy too. For that two reasons I think Chile is not a happy country, because people don’t care about the happiness of other people, and because people is all the time thinking in the future happiness.

Visiting Peru

I think travelling is one of the better experiences in life, because you can know a lot of different ways of life and see many diverse realities.
One of the things that I most like when I travel is know the culture of the country I’m visiting, and for that reason I would like to go to a country with an important culture behind it, like Peru. I don’t know much about this country, despite is our neighbor, so it would be more interesting to go there.
Once there, I would like to visit the most places I can, go to villages and little towns, and talk with people who lived there. I would like to go to museums and natural places, like Machupichu’s ruins.
I don’t know if I would like to live in Peru, because I have never been there, so I don’t know how is to live there. But I think no, because I think is too similar to our country, and I would like to live in a more quiet place.

About this term

We all know that this term is not a normal one, because we are just coming back to class after a very long time, full of experience, hard work and fight. I think we can't stay indifferent to that, and we have to collect all the things we learn in these months, whit the purpose to use all the experience in our activities of each day. For that reason I hope I can share the knowledge I learn in the mobilization and relation it with the things I can learn in the subjects I'm taking this term, which are social history of latinoamérica, social psychology, statistics, philosophy, methodology and this course of english. Specially in this class, I'd like to learn about things related with social sciences that can serve us in the future of our disciplines. Obviously we would have liked to return to class in better conditions, but studying in summer is part of the costs we have to pay. This fight is something that we have to understand in a long time, so if we haven`t the better conditions to study now is something that we have to understand too.
